THE annual Wisbech St Mary Fireworks Spectacular on Saturday was a big hit with the public.

Organised by the Parent/Teachers’ Association, headteacher Yvonne Lamb praised everyone involved for the organisation saying the parents do a fantastic job, supported by the staff.

“It went really well,” said Mrs Lamb, adding the school field was packed with visitors and there were queues for the refreshments.

As well as the spectacular two fireworks displays and traditional bonfire, there fairground rides, stalls and competitions. On Monday Mrs Lamb said she didn’t know the exact amount raised but last year’s event was a big money-spinner for the school with the money used to provide those important extras for the school and pupils.
