Volunteer fair in March
Volunteer Centre Fenland and Richmond Fellowship Wellbeing Service are holding a volunteer fair on Tuesday, March 19, from 2pm to 4.30pm.
The fair is being held at St Peter’s Church Hall, March and has been arranged to enable all those who have thought about volunteering their time to be able to find out more about what opportunities are available. There will be several local organisations represented and lots of information on offer.
Fenland Volunteer Centre covers the whole of Fenland, Chatteris, March, Wisbech and Whittlesey, including the rural areas. The office is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9am to 2.30pm.
The Volunteer Centre holds drop-in sessions every Monday and Tuesday between 11am and noon. Regular outreach visits are held at local libraries to promote volunteering within the Fenland Community.
Richmond Fellowship is a specialist provider of mental health services. For more than 50 years RF has pioneered and practised its belief in social inclusion and recovery, and is now one of the biggest voluntary sector providers of mental health care in England, working with people towards the achievement of the best possible quality of life for each individual.
With over 120 Services across the country, RF offers a wide range of housing, care, employment and community support services to enable people to live life to the full.
People receive individual support from a dedicated Support Worker to identify their needs and to find ways to ensure those needs are met. There is a strong emphasis on community activity, so people can be supported to engage in voluntary work or to attend local centres to access activities including a writing group, coffee mornings and snooker.
The service has had a number of recent successes, including people being supported to learn IT skills, make new friends, take up voluntary work and rebuild relationships with family.
Common mental health problems will affect one in four people during their lives, and they can cause people to lose their jobs and relationships to break down. People with serious mental health problems are much more likely to be unemployed and die prematurely.
RF works to make recovery reality for people with mental health problems and has been making a unique contribution to mental health services since 1959.
