Guided walks in Wisbech

The following guided walks will be taking place around Wisbech in May.
n Octavia Hill – led by Peter Clayton. An opportunity to look around the newly extended Birthplace House, including the ‘Little Hell’ basement, the dramatic Long Room, two new National Trust rooms, and the new garden, one of Octavia’s ‘Outdoor sittin
g rooms’. Wednesday May 7, meet outside the Tourist Information Centre at 7pm.

n Wisbech Castle – led by Geoff Wilkinson.

This tour around the Regency Villa will include stories of the three previous Castles on the site – the Norman Castle, the Bishop’s Palace and John Thurloe’s Mansion. As numbers are strictly limited, advance booking is essential.

Wednesday 14 May, meet in Museum Square at 7pm.

n Wisbech Park – led by Viv Mcrae. A guided walk around Wisbech’s Victorian park, with a chance to see the recent work as well as hear about its history.

Wednesday May 21, meet at the bandstand in the Park at 7pm.

n Clarksons of Wisbech – Clarkson biographer Roger Powell leads this walk around locations associated with Thomas and John Clarkson, and explains more about their work against slavery.
