FLORENCE House at Friday Bridge is taking part in the National Gardens Scheme this summer.
The 40 year-old garden and the newer paddock borders contain over 1,500 varieties of plants. In late May, the roses will be starting to flower and also alliums, hemerocallis, hesperis, euphorbias, delphiniums and oriental poppies.
Evergreens play an important part and include phormiums, berberis, fatsia, heucheras and doronicums. Trees in bloom include magnolias, paeony lutea and sorbus. Large sweeping borders dominate the older part of the garden which has mature trees and shrubs with a varied range of hebaceous perennials, many rare or unusual.
The garden is open on May 24 and August 16 from noon to 4pm. Refreshments will be available and car parking. Admission is £2.50 and children free. Florence House is at Back Road, postcode PE14 OHU.
