I WOULD like to say a big thank you to all those involved in the charity Brass Band concert at the Hippodrome, March, on Saturday.
For those of you who didn't realise this was on you missed a real treat.

All of the separate performances were fantastic especially the solo "Killing Me Softly" from the March Band, "I got Rhythm" from Somersham Band and "Theme from Robin Hood" b
y Chatteris Band.

However, the climax of the evening was the joining of the three bands after the interval to produce some amazing performances, in particular the spine tingling rendition of "Somewhere Out There" and the finale "Storie Di Tutti I Giorni".

This was the best £5 I have spent for a long time. It was announced that there will be more of these concerts in the future and if they are anything like this one they will be well worth £5 of anybody's money.

It was a shame that the audience was not larger but word of mouth should hopefully rectify this for the next concert.

MAY I congratulate the organisers and the bands involved in the massed bands concert in the Hippodome in March on Saturday.

It was without a doubt the finest concert held in March for many years.

Each band playing two pieces and each band having its own sound and style.

But the finale, when the three bands massed together in the last half, was something to be seen and heard as between 60 and 70 players just managed to get on to the stage and give a wonderful performance, which called for three encores.

Truly a magnificent evening for all concerned, both conductors, players and audience. Also the charities, of which there are three, will benefit.

Lastly, I must say thanks to the Petrou brothers for their kindness in allowing the event to take place.

Let's hope that there will be some more in the future.

A SUTTON,
Chatteris
