Disgusted at lack of support for St George's Day

AS an Englishman in England, I am totally dismayed and disgusted at the lack of support for St George's Day – especially in my home town of March.
County Hall did not even hang a flag. When I rang Fenland Council to ask why there wasn't a flag out today they didn't realise it was St George's Day – isn't that a sad reflection on the state of England today?

We are frightened of what the PC brigade might say. We allow others to celebrate their days, so why can we not be allowed the same privilege?

Apart from Birthday's card shop in Broad Street, March, there were no other shops selling England merchandise. Again, another sad reflection.

I would like to see St George's Day being celebrated in England by the mass.

So, irrespective of the history of St George, let's hope we can be proud and bold enough to fly the flag of England, red and white of St George.

JOHN FLATTLEY,
Norwood Road,
March.
