THIS summer marks ten years since Labour voted to introduce the National Minimum Wage.
Looking back, I think this is one of Labour's proudest achievements in Government, and we have built on this by increasing the minimum wage to £5.73 for workers over 21 from October and bringing in better safeguards at work, like paid holidays and th
e right to request flexible working for parents and carers.

Working people in Fenland want to know how we are going to make sure all working people benefit from improved employment standards.

I am standing to be an MP to fight for the rights of working people in Fenland and I'll always do what I can.

The Government is coming down hard on those people that don't pay workers the minimum wage, and as part of the Employment Bill, now before Parliament, there are even tougher penalties for rogue employers who con staff.

If you think a rogue employer is not paying up, get in touch with me via my website www.roberts4necambs.co.uk or call the National Minimum Wage Helpline on 0845-6000-678.

PETER ROBERTS,
Labour Parliamentary Spokesperson for North East Cambridgeshire.
