HOW true the wartime spirit was that Nick Reinis wrote about in Norfolk Street, Wisbech, after the power failure (Citizen, Wisbech edition, August 20).
You had to have been there to realise the problems the poor girls in Jennifer Jaynes had. I wouldn't have bothered any other time and would have gone back again another day, but I had a special wedding.

There was kindness all around, especially young Gemma. She trimmed my hair, damped and rolled it. I was one of the old ladies diving across the street! But what kindness was given, too, at KS1 and Dean's Barbers.

They not only dried my hair, they also offered drinks. How is that for terrific Wisbech spirit? At the end of it all I got a terrific hair-do.

Thank you so much Gemma, also a big thank you to KS1 and Dean.

A very happy old lady.

MRS DIANA POPE,
Colletts Bridge Lane,
Elm.
