Kosovo visitors looking to twin with Wisbech museum - left to right David Wright, Elizabeth Gowling, Bashkim Tejeci, Valon Shkidra Karen Chancellor and Bekim Xhemili
WISBECH and Fenland Museum hosted visitors from the Kosovo Ethnological Museum in Pristina as part of a project to forge closer links between museums.
Bekimj Xhemili, Valon Shkodra and Bashkim Tejeci were accompanied by author Elizabeth Gowing to both Chatteris and Wisbech museums last Tuesday. Bashkim is a craftsman in silver filigree and he demonstrated at the Cambridgeshire Folk Museum this month.
Jenny Furlong from Chatteris Museum recently travelled to Kosovo and demonstrated at the museum there. The group were collecting ideas to use back at their museum in Kosovo and they particularly liked the trail at the Wisbech Museum designed by school children.
The delegation is part of the twinning of the Cambridge-based museum with the Ethnological Museum in Pristina and marks the beginning of a project to share skills and experiences between the two museums and to share the culture of the countries with one another.
