WORK is underway to complete a £2 million leisure development at Tydd St Giles Golf and Leisure Estate.

Work has started on a new oak-framed health and fitness complex which is due to be officially opening in January.

Adrian Hurst, managing director of the estate, said: “In order to be able to cater for the needs of our ever growing visitor numbers we have decided to add this additional leisure complex.

“The complex, which is scheduled to open on January 25, will feature a heated indoor pool with a coco jet machine which controls the water current, steam room and sauna, as well as a fully air-conditioned fitness suite.

“Visitors who come for the day will be able to benefit from the new facilities, as well as people who are holidaying on-site. The complex will also create a further 18 jobs for the company.”

The new building covers over 100 square metres. The work started in March and is being carried out by Bespoke Oak Supplies, of Wisbech.

The golf complex opened as a nine-hole course in 1995 and became a holiday venue in 2009 with the addition of seven holiday lodges.

The estate, which is celebrating its 18th anniversary next year, now has holiday homes and lodges around an 18-hole golf course and lake.

The new leisure complex works are due to be completed next month.
