The annual Manea Gala is set to be bigger and better this summer.
Since 1956, the gala has grown from strength to strength and this year is no exception. Plans are well under way for bigger and better gala on Saturday July 13.
The procession of decorated floats will leave the school at an earlier time of 11.30am for a tour of the village, with the aim of arriving at the SM Guy Memorial Playing field in Park Road at 1pm.
The ATC Band will be heading the parade. Why not join in with a float of any size, a wheelbarrow, a
car and trailer, tractor and trailer or a lorry?
Special guest this year will be MP Steve Barclay who will be opening the gala and judging the parade of decorated floats. The Manea Flower Club will be taking over the Church Room with their ever popular flower show.
There will be main ring events ranging from a falconry display from raptor, The Newfoundland Dog Display team, tThe ATC Marching Band, motorbikes, classic cars and tractor displays.
The Whittlesey Scooter Club and Wisbech and District Motorbike Club will be in attendance.
This year will feature a Spitfire and Hurricane flypast from ‘The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’.
This will a great nostalgic addition to the day’s entertainment.
On the field will be Santa Pod Dragster cars. The fantastic Classic Car and Tractor Display will return again. Attractions also include fun fair rides. bouncy castle, megaslide, bungee trampolines, climbing wall, laser combat games, children’s battery powered cars, children’s ride on steam engine, children’s entertainer along with lots of other fun fair type stalls.
There will be a big variety of stalls, games, competitions and sideshows along with a licensed bar.
hot food and light refreshments will be available all day and into the evening musical entertainment from about 5pm to late. There will be a section of local talent, the DJ will be spinning a few discs and a live band take to the stage at about 7pm. Some of the funfair rides will remain operational during the evening as well.
Entrance to the gala and to the party in the park in the evening is free.
