Two three-day sports camps are being held for young basketball and hockey players during the summer holidays.
Organised by Fenland District Council, both will be at the Hudson Leisure Centre in Wisbech. Each one is for boys and girls aged 8-12.
The basketball camp is on August 5-7 and the hockey one on August 27-29. The cost for each one is £30 per child for the three days. Spaces are limited so pre-booking is essential.
Councillor Steve Garratt, FDC’s portfolio holder responsible for young people and sports development, said: “These two camps are a great opportunity for youngsters who are keen to develop their skills and take them to a higher level – maybe by joining a local sports club.
“A year ago everyone was so excited by the London Olympics and Paralympics. Since then we have been seeking to build on that enthusiasm and encourage more people to take part in all different kinds of sport.
“We have been developing various ways of helping local clubs attract more members and fun events like these are a good way of pointing young people in that direction.”
