The Tate Gallery wants you help in identifying the places pictured in a massive collection of photographs from across Britain that it has just put into its online archive.

About 1,000 of the 6,000 black and white photographs by John Piper, taken between the 1930s and ’80s mostly for the Shell guides to Britain, remain unidentified.
