REHEARSALS for the Wisbech Players October production of CALENDAR GIRLS – written by Tim Firth and based upon the Miramax motion picture by Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth – resumes on August 29 after the summer break.
Barbara Mews, director, says: “The strong cast are raring to get back to work on this wonderful play. We have already had lots of laughter and tears with the fun and poignancy of the script.
There has been a great deal of interest in the play and Wisbech Round Table have kindly made a donation for the dressing gowns for those of the cast in the calendar scenes.”
The play runs from Friday October 12 with two performances on Saturday October 13 followed by nightly performances from Tuesday 16 until Saturday October 20. Tickets are now available from the Angles theatre box office – 01945-474447, or by calling at the theatre in Alexandra Road, Wisbech, or go on-line at www.anglestheatre.co.uk. Price £12 (£10 concessions).
CALENDAR GIRLS is being performed in support of leukaemia and lymphoma research – the only UK charity dedicated solely to research into blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma – with profits from raffle ticket sales, plus a percentage of sales of the 2013 calendar of the ladies which will be available for purchase at £8.00.
Barbara Mews adds: “We are still needing some items for the play, so if any readers have any of the following items which they would be willing to lend us we should be most grateful. If you can help please contact Gordon Ringrose on 07743-610790 or Isobel Shippey on 07883-428954:-
