THE sun shone as members of Wisbech Town Council enjoyed all the fun of the fair at the Mart's official opening on Saturday.
Mayor Yvonne Lawrence declared the fair open before experiencing some of the rides for herself, along with fellow councillors and members of the Wisbech Youth Council.

In a break with tradition, the fair, based in Chapel Road car park, opened to the public on Friday evening, a change that proved popular with local people.

A spokesperson from the town council said: "The fair was exceptional. I spoke to all the fairground people as we went around and they said they were really pleased with Friday evening opening. There were a lot of young people who went along and went on the rides."

The opening of the Mart was one of the Mayor's last civic engagements before the change of leadership in May.

The fair is in Wisbech until Saturday before moving onto other towns, including March.
