ELDERLY residents living close to a proposed amusement arcade in March have vowed to fight on after developers lodged an appeal against Fenland Council's decision to reject their plans.
One 80-year-old woman, who does not want to be named, said residents of Hansart Court were very disappointed that a Peterborough-based company are continuing with their hopes of converting Marcam House in Station Road, into an amusement arcade.
Th
e premises at 4 to 6 Station Road, were formerly home to TAS Motor Spares and the application by Mr M Serin will see the premises changed from retail to amusement centre.
New windows, shopfronts and a single-storey rear extension are also included in the plans.
Fenland planners have twice refused permission, the first time last summer. The Peterborough firm's revised plans were then being rejected in December.
Now an appeal has been lodged against that decision and the residents of Hansart Court plan to continue their fight against the proposals.
All 19 residents, who are in their 80s and 90s, have previously signed a petition against the amusement arcade plans, which they believe are inappropriate for the site.
The pensioner said the residents fear there will be anti-social behaviour as a result of an amusement arcade and they will be affected by this as their homes back on to Marcam House.
She said there are concerns about possible noise nuisance as well as the possibility of 'undesirables' being encouraged to hang around the area.
The appeal will be determined by written representations and anyone wanting to make a representation or comment on the proposal should write to: Mrs H Phillips, Room 3/16 Eagle at the Planning Inspectorate, Temple Quay, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN.
The closing date is March 31.
