A WISBECH woman is urging people to be wary of putting out charity bags after she witnessed several being stolen from outside houses.
Samantha Green was walking her daughter to school in the Ramnoth Road area when she saw people taking bags of clothes and going through them taking what they wanted before putting them back.

She said: “I don’t know how they have the bold-faced cheek to do it. These poor people think they’re leaving things out for charity, but all they’re doing is giving people a free hand out.”

Sue Small, assistant manager at The British Heart Foundation shop in Wisbech Market Place, said thefts of bags is a common problem.

She said she knew of cases where people have driven down streets and cleared all the bags left out before the BHF van could get there.

Sue said people can ring the shop and let them know they have a bag to be collected.
