BLIND passenger Dieter Kreuchen and his partner Sheila are calling for more bus stops in March following changes to some of the town's bus services.
Seventy-three year-old Dieter lost his sight 32 years ago and now faces the cost of having to get a taxi to take him to his doctor's surgery at Elwyn Road because he is unable to flag down passing buses.

When the service was operated by Cavalier,
Dieter said he would flag down the driver virtually outside his Waterside Gardens home and he would get dropped off opposite the Cornerstone Practice.

Following recent changes, Dieter has been told drivers will not stop at undesignated bus stops. He discovered this on Tuesday when he went to catch the 34 service.

Now he said the only way he can catch the bus is if he is with his partner or he will have to arrange a taxi.

The nearest stop to Dieter's home is Shaftesbury Avenue but he is concerned about having to walk from Broad Street.

* Bus user Connie Harris, of Manea, is concerned the extra services will be lost if people don't use them.

Back in July, pensioner Connie expressed her concern about the 333 service from the village to March and the town's Tesco store.

At the time, Stagecoach assured there would be benefits to bus users with extra services added.

These include improvements for commuters with a morning and evening service to March railway station.

Said Connie: "A lot of people don't seem to know what buses are running and people are not using them since the changes."
She fears if they are not used the services will be lost.
