A RETROSPECTIVE plan to hold car boot sales at a village business site has been given the go-ahead despite objections.
Councillors at Wednesday’s planning meeting went against officers’ recommendations to approve the application to hold the car boot sales at the Skylark Garden Centre and Country Store.

Car boots have been held at the Wimblington business for some time without planning permission.

But an application was submitted asking for permission to use land south of the garden centre for the car boots but Fenland’s planning officers were recommending refusal.

They said it was unacceptable in the open countryside and likely to result in extra traffic and impact on the “visual amenity” of the area.

A report to the planning committee explained the car boot sales have been held for two years without problems.
