FRIDAY Bridge Primary is a good school where pupils enjoy learning and the headteacher is pivotal to the school's improvements, according to Government inspectors.
The team from OfSTED - the Office for Standard in Education - found good teaching in all classes and said pupils were cared for 'exceptionally well'.

"Pupils make good progress in both their academic and personal development. Consistently good tea
ching and an interesting curriculum ensure that the quality of learning is good.

"Good teaching is evident in all classes. All classrooms have a calm and purposeful atmosphere in which pupils enjoy working. This is because staff enjoy excellent relationships with pupils," said the inspectors' report.

"Teachers question pupils well and this underpins good progress because teachers develop a good understanding of what the pupils have learned," it added.

Inspectors also said there was a strong, positive atmosphere in the school and all adults knew the pupils well.

They also praised the Early Years Foundation Stage, adding: "Children settle quickly and confidently into school. This is aided by the strong and close links enjoyed with the pre-school."

They said headteacher Jayne Williams provided good leadership and management. "The headteacher is pivotal to the school's improvements and she is supported well by all the staff.

"There is a determined, shared ambition to make improvement.

"The teaching and support staff have been together for many years without any changes to personnel. They work closely together and teamwork is strong and morale high.

"They share the headteacher's commitment to further improve the school," said the report.

The school's child protection arrangements were described as 'exemplary' and inspectors said they were a demonstration of the care and consideration given to ensuring pupils' well-bring.

The school was encouraged to raise standards in writing and strengthen the role of governors.

Headteacher Jayne Williams said: "We feel very proud that the report recognises the achievements and efforts of the whole school community - pupils, parents, staff and governors.

"My warmest thanks and congratulations to them all."
