THE sun blazed down for the Wisbech annual Rose Fair.
Saturday saw the parade make its way through the town centre, cheered on by crowds of people lining the streets.

It was a lively parade on the theme of ‘Music and Groups Through the Ages’ and people danced and sang along to hits from artists including Queen, the Beatles and Michael Jackson.

The start of the first parade was slightly delayed after an elderly woman felt unwell and had to be helped by paramedics and St John Ambulance volunteers, but it all went off without a hitch in the end.

Rose Queen Hannah Pears and her attendants Sophie Johnson and Lily Amps showered rose petals over the people at the head of the parade.

For Round Table chairman Nick Seaton, he got to see the parade from a different angle as he was on a float for the first time, along with Wisbech Mayor Yvonne Lawrence and the other dignitaries.

He said: “It went very well. Hannah really enjoyed it as Rose Queen. She was pleased to do it, really keen. It was a good day.”

The winning float was Emneth Primary School with the Glenn Miller Sound. The best junior float was Elm Road School and highly commended was the CAB.

The churches were also very popular with many visitors to their flower displays.

St Peter’s Church was decked with wonderful displays, which attracted coach loads of visitors.
