BOTH Wisbech and March fire station's have won recognition in this year's Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service awards.
March fire station won the team achievement award for maintaining excellent availability and being recognised as a practiced, experienced and professional crew.
Wisbech fire station won the Excellence in Community Safety Award for its outstanding contribution to tackling youth crime, working with the multi-agency Youth Inclusion Support Panel. This initiative was a real team effort involving the whole station – both operational staff and those in various support roles –- and has been extremely successful in achieving the aim of preventing young people from re-offending.
The evening also included presentations of long service and good conduct awards. And among those to receive one of these for 20 years’ service was Graham Brighty, crew manager at Wisbech.
G’s Fresh Beetroot in March were also recognised for its support for the fire service in releasing an employee who is a retained firefighter.
