CUSTOMERS turned up at a Fenland pub for lunch on Sunday to find it was closed.
A notice on the door at the Woodman’s Cottage in Gorefield apologised for the inconvenience but said the pub was closed.

One of the disappointed customers told the Citizen their party of eight pensioners had booked lunch for 1pm two weeks before and they had not been contacted to say the premises would be closed.

The customer said two more people arrived while they were waiting at 12.15pm to find the place closed.

A staff member at the premises told the Citizen the pub was closed on Thursday after the manager left.

In June, owners Mike and Lesley Higginson were featured in the Citizen after taking over the Woodman’s. They had revamped the premises, installed a new kitchen and updated the restaurant and bar.

At the time of going to press, the Citizen had not been able to speak to Mr Higginson to check if the pub would be re-opening.
