GARDENERS in the Wisbech area are being urged to grow for it and reap the rewards of their efforts in a special gardening competition being organised by Wisbech in Bloom and promoted by the Citizen.
There are a whole range of categories – including one for the best industrial area. The winning company will receive a trophy presented by Wisbech Town Council and given by former mayor Les Sims.

Other categories include those for hanging bas
kets, the best large and small gardens within a three-mile radius of Wisbech town centre, the best water garden (sponsored by Alvenor Aquatics, of Murrow), best wildlife-friendly garden (sponsored by Peckover House and the National Trust), large and small out-of-town gardens (sponsored by Tesco) and a section for small containers (sponsored by Doreen Eden).

We need your entries now as the deadline is 10am on Friday, July 10. Judging is the week beginning July 13.

To enter the gardens competition, send us a photograph of your garden. Write your name, address, telephone number and the section you are entering on the back of all photographs.

Please write the correct name on the photograph, to be used on the certificate if your entry is judged a winner.

Include a stamped addressed envelope if you want your photograph returned. Send your entries to: Wisbech Garden Competition, Fenland Citizen,11 Union Street, Wisbech, PE13 1DN. Please mark your envelope Wisbech Garden Competition.

Some of the entries may be featured in the Citizen during the competition.

Large gardens are 200 sqm plus; small gardens less than 200 sqm.

There will be certificates for the top three in all sections and highly commended awards and the silver spade for the garden judged to be the overall winner.

The winners will be presented with their prizes later in the year.
