AN area of land is to be left litter-strewn and rat infested after both Fenland Council and Roddons Housing Association have denied responsibility for it.
The land, off Hawkins Drive and the back of homes in Council Road, Wisbech, has been branded a disaster zone by residents.

One man in his eighties, who didn’t want to be named, said the land had become an eyesore with rubbish, tyres and car parts littering it. He claims it has been attracting rats and is concerned it could be a health hazard.

Fenland Council say the First Response team could not clear the area as the land belongs to Roddons Housing Association – which took over the council’s housing stock.

But Roddons say the land belongs to the council – so they cannot do anything.

The pensioner commented: “So it seems we shall just have to put up with it. But I’m sure if anyone tried to do something with the land the council would soon put a stop to it.”
