A local politician is hoping talks with Network Rail will prove beneficial to train commuters at Manea.
Conservative parliamentary candidate Steve Barclay and Whittlesey councillor Martin Curtis are calling for the railway platforms at Manea and Whittlesey to be extended so that more trains could stop at these stations.
Speaking about the situation at Whittlesey, Mr Barclay said: "At the moment many commuters from Whittlesey have to travel to Peterborough and pay £10 a day in parking, on top of the cost of fuel. If more trains stopped at Whittlesey station, then more commuters would be able to park free of charge at Whittlesey station and get a train to Peterborough.
"This issue was also raised with me by sixth formers when I visited the Sir Harry Smith School, who told me that they find travelling to Peterborough without a car a real problem."
He said rail operating companies claim the station platforms are too short to allow many of their trains to stop and he said the same issue arises at Manea station.
Mr Barclay said people face watching trains pass through the station without stopping.
