March was in gridlock last night after a crash on the town’s by-pass caused the road to be closed.
The accident, which happened at the Gaul Road junction of the A141 at around 4.20pm, involved a car and a motorcyclist.
Police closed the road in both directions while emergency services dealt with the incident.
The male motorcyclist, believed to be in his 50s, was initially thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries and he was airlifted by Magpas to Addenbrookes’ Hospital in Cambridge.
However, this morning (Wednesday) his condition was described as serious but no-longer life-threatening and he was stable.
The road was closed until around 10pm causing massive tailbacks in all directions and roads through the town to be gridlocked.
