SKATE park enthusiasts launched a fundraising effort on Saturday with a bag pack at Wisbech Morrisons supermarket.

Youngsters are keen to raise funds to renovate and improve the Waterlees Ward Skate Park in Bath Road.

The park is well used despite the fact the equipment is old and need of major restoration and the young people are keen to show Fenland Council thay are prepared to do their bit to help contribute to the cost in the hope the council will provide funding too.

With the help of local councillors Michael and Virginia Bucknor they have set about raising money and have designed their own logo for the campaign.

And local printers TL Productions at Outwell kindly donated T-shirts with the logo printed on them which the young campaigners wore for Saturday’s bag pack.

Virginia said: “Some of them had never done a bag pack before but by the end they said they had really enjoyed the experience, chatting to the shoppers telling them what they were trying to achieve.

“Thanks to the generosity of the Morrisons shoppers, we raised £175 which will be used to fund the next Bath Road Skate Park project.
