An alley in Wisbech town centre is to be permanently gated to stop anti-social behaviour.
New Bell Lane, which runs between Union Street and Nene Quay, is proposed to be shut off next to the Fenland Citizen office for a distance of 35 metres.
This will allow access from Nene Quay for people living in New Bell Lane but will stop pedestrian access through the narrow alley where drinkers tend to congregate.
The application has been submitted by the police, who will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of the gates.
Any representations concerning the proposed Order should be made in writing to Cambs County Council by March 19.
The draft order can be viewed at Wisbech Library.
