WISBECH Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society has packed up it’s sets and props after another successful ‘opera week’.

This year’s ‘opera’ was ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’ at the Angles Theatre in Wisbech.

Between the matinee and evening performances on Saturday the Society presented its two cups - the Saskia Wykes Member of the Year cup was awarded to Ann Shippey for all the sterling work she does for the Society throughout the year.

Ann is a long-standing member of the Society having joined in 1961 as a dancer, she is now the Society’s ‘mistress of the script’ and has been involved with every ‘opera’ since she joined.

The Anthony Collin Esprit de Corps Cup, was awarded to the Society’s newest member, Alex Lester, who played the lead role of ‘Man In Chair’ in the show. As the narrator of the musical, Alex had hundreds of lines to learn and ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’ was his first production with WAODS.

The next event in WAODS’ social diary is a car rally on Sunday July 22, £5 per car, if you would like to take part please contact Teresa Hudson on 01733-893904, to order tickets and find out more details, or click on the ‘contact us’ button on the society’s website: www.waods.org.
