SUNDAY February 6 is proud day for 1220 (March) Squadron of the ATC as it hosts its 70th anniversary parade.
The band will lead the parade of 140 cadets from eight squadrons.
The event also celebrates the unveiling of the Squadron’s new banner bought through the generosity of March residents.
Flying Officer Colin Arnold, Project Officer said: “It has been hard work by the team pulling everything together for the parade but we are now ready. The local authorities and the police have been excellent with their help and advice.”
The parade starts from City Road lorry park at 1.30pm through High Street and Broad Street to the Market Place. There will be a fly past by no 5 Air Experience Flight at 2pm and the cadets will be inspected by Group Captain Walcot.
The inspection will be followed by a Drumhead Service where the old banner will be stood down and the new one dedicated. Shortly before 2.30pm the parade will march to St Peter’s Church with Group Captain Walcot taking the salute followed by a service.
