Wimblington 2nds beat Milton 3rds at Parkfield.
Batting first Milton made 190-7 with Ash Irvine conceding just 12 runs off his 10 overs, supported by two wickets apiece for Paul King and Jack Stevens.
Irvine was in fine form with the bat too, scoring 84 in Wimblington’s winning total of 192-5, supported well by 17 year-old Harry Stevens, who scored 56.
Wimblington skipper Terry Pomfrett said: “That was a terrific win against a strong side.
“I’m over the moon with the result.”
Wimblington’s Sunday side fielded many younger players and put up a spirited display against a more experienced Ely side. Ely made 207 with Wimblington scoring 142, Kevin Marsh top scoring with 46.
There are no league games for any of Wimblington’s sides this coming weekend. Instead they are holding an inter club T20 game, with all players welcome to attend, at 2.30pm. There will be a barbecue after the game.
The club are still on the lookout for players of all ages and abilities for their two Saturday and one Sunday teams. If you are interested please contact Ash Irvine on 07799 542727.
