ASKHAM Care Homes at Doddington is doubling its accommodation and creating new recreation facilities for residents, day visitors and families.

The new facilities, which will be a £4 million investment, are due to be finished next spring.

Salim Giga, director of Askham: “I believe we took the right decision to commit to this investment at the height of the recession in 2008; our bank was fully supportive and it is investments such as these that drive the economy at the local level.”

Set in six acres, the original country house and purpose-built facilities already offer care for a range of people. Askham House and Askham Place are residential and nursing facilities with care for the elderly and continuing care for the young physically disabled requiring professional support within an independent living environment.

The investment is helping to increase accommodation for both the over 65s and young physically disabled. In addition to the high spec 38 new en-suite bedrooms, the new buildings will include a recreation centre encompassing a hydrotherapy pool, gym and café. It will also include a conference room to cater for up to 100 people.
