Brownies from a March unit had lots to celebrate at a recent meeting.

Not only are the Brownies nationally 100 years old this year, but 4th March Brownies are 60 years old as well.

To celebrate, young Brownies from the unit dressed in uniforms from the last 60 years to complete the Traditions of Guiding badge.

They also sang brownie songs from the 1950s, 60s and 70s and enjoyed a special celebration cake made for the unit by Rainbow leader Tracy Band.

Other activities completed for the badge over recent weeks have been learning to plait, setting the table and keeping fit.

The meeting was brought back up to date and closed with six new members – Charlotte, Rebecca, Olivia, Megan, Charlotte and Hannah – making the new Brownie promise launched in September 2013.

Presentations of Traditions of Guiding badges were also made to all members of the unit.

Assistant Brownie leader Susan Southwell said: “Although the girls loved the chance to dress up they told me that they want to go back to their modern comfortable uniforms. The biggest challenge to them was tying the tie!”
