Hollywood has inspired the fourth Bacon Buttie Festival to be staged by March’s St Peter’s Church.

This year’s event – being held from 9am to noon on Saturday at the High Street church – has been dubbed Bacon Buttie Festival 4: The Cubano.

The Cubano, a sandwich containing pork tenderloin, smoked bacon, cheese, tomato and mustard, grilled until crisp on the outside and meltingly delicious on the inside, featured in the 2014 film Chef.

Fundraising manager Paul Roberts said: “I was sent a film clip on YouTube and I realised this was something we could do well. It’s completely delectable.”

All the Festival favourites are returning, including the ‘Elvis’ (a sandwich with bacon laid on top of peanut butter and topped with miniature marshmallows), the ‘Mushroom Double Cheese’ and the ‘Churchwarden’s Chilli Challenge’.

Mr Roberts added: “We’ve a new twist on the bacon sandwich, plus live music from a brass ensemble, live drama and the usual fun and games including quoits, a book stall, cake stall and a human fruit machine.”
