ONE of the most important dates in the Wisbech calendar is well underway in the Fenland town.

Although many people see Saturday’s parade and the associated festivities as the main part of the popular festival, the beautiful arrangements of flowers are actually the main reason for it.

As usual, the churches around the town centre are filled to the rafters with amazing floral displays, demonstrating the obvious flower arranging skills in the Fens.

St Peter’s Church remains at the focal point of the celebrations, as it has been since the Rose Fair started – the festival began as a way to raise money for the church.

Each church has its own theme and ‘Milestones’ has been chosen for St Peter’s.

There are lots of different interpretations of the theme evident in the imaginative displays, ranging from wedding anniversaries to scientific breakthroughs.

Just some of the displays can be seen in our photo gallery – follow the link to the right to see them.

The flowers will be on display in the church throughout Rose Fair week, so don’t miss an opportunity to see them for real.
