The organisers of this year’s Wisbech Rose Fair parade are hoping to make the 50th year of the event the noisiest.
The town’s Round Table organise the colourful parade and already they have around 20 floats. But Round Table chairman Simon Johnson is still appealing to walking bands, musicians, singers, choirs, dancers, entertainers and even martial arts groups to come forward and be part of the parade.
Transport can also be arranged for bands which prefer to be part of the floats.
The parade takes place on Saturday July 6 at 11am and again at 2pm round the town and is headed by the new Rose Queen.
This year’s theme is Wonders of the World and people can use their imagination to create a decorated float with this in mind.
Said Simon: “As this is the 50th year, I want to make it the best and noisiest we can.”
Entry forms for floats and street acts can be collected from the Citizen office at 11 Union Street. If you want to be part of the walking parade you can also call Sam Smith on 07771557732.
Wisbech’s historic St Peter’s Church will be decorated with magnificent floral arrangements in celebration of 50 years of the Rose Fair, which started out as a means of fundraising for the church and this is still the case today.
