Ratzcool, the Angles Theatre’s children’s school for the performing arts, has been chosen – for the second year – by the National Theatre Connections 500 to take part in a national festival.
Connections 500 is the National Theatre’s annual festival of new plays commissioned by some of the best contemporary playwrights.

To celebrate their 21st anniversary, Connections will be working with 500 companies to perform their plays in 2016. This makes Connections one of the largest celebrations of youth theatre.
At the weekend a youth director from the Wisbech theatre joined 500 directors from all over the country for three days of workshops to get the mammoth project started.
The Angles director, along with 60 other directors, had the opportunity to meet playwright, Patrick Marber.
An Angles spokesperson said: “This was an amazing chance to delve into and understand the nitty, gritty details of the play from the playwright’s point of view.
“It was also wonderful to talk to other directors of The Musicians and share the elements they felt would excite youth groups and their concerns.”
Ratzcool are excited about the challenge and rehearsals will begin as soon as the cast has been auditioned.
After performing at the Angles in April, they will take the play to Norwich in May and then, if chosen, will perform at the National Theatre Festival in June/July.
