Pets of all shapes and sizes descended on All Saints’ Inter-Church Academy in March on Thursday (27 June) to be blessed in a special Bless the Pets service.

Rev Jenny Webb conducted the blessings while Year 6 pupils, who had been responsible for organising the occasion, conducted the service.

The children were also excited because the school received two rabbits for which the pupils, with the help of parents, will be responsible.

Headteacher Rachel Beeson said a competition will be held to find names for the rabbits. She said: “The rabbits will teach responsibility and care and bring joy and love to the school,”

The pet service was open to the wider community and pets blessed included a horse, snake and tortoise.

“It was a lovely occasion. Year 6 did us proud,” said Mrs Beeson.

The school became an Academy in April and has an extra class in reception.
