A PAIR of bowlers proved that age is no barrier to success after the two 91-year-olds walked away with the winner and runner-up titles in a club competition.
Gladys Chilley was presented with the Les Purse Shield as the winner of the annual competition at the March and District Blind Bowls Club. It was the second time she has won the contest.
Rose Wills emerged as the runner-up for the third year in a row, an impressive feat for the pensioner.
Honarary secretary Gordon Jackson said the two ladies were still active and the club meetings at the GER indoor bowls club in March helped to “keep them out of trouble”.
The club meets every Wednesday afternoon, with the exception of the third Wednesday in the month, from 2pm at the bowls club on Robingoodfellows Lane, March. Transport can be arranged.
The club is always looking for new members, plus sighted helpers and drivers. Contact Gordon on 01945-461694 for more details.
