The former boss of a West Norfolk bus company has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, which was published a short time ago.

Ben Colson, who was managing director of Norfolk Green until 2013, has been recognised for services to the economy and community in Norfolk.

Founded in 1996, the company was named UK Bus Operator of the Year in 2010. It was bought by the Stagecoach group in 2013.

Mr Colson has also served as chairman of the organising committee of the Wolferton scarecrow festival, which attracted thousands of visitors to the village and raised money for a host of good causes when it was last staged two years ago.

Also honoured with an MBE is Paul Arnill, from March, in recognition of his services to the community in Tilney and to the Cambridgeshire Search and Rescue team.

They join stars from the worlds of sport and entertainment on the list like singer Van Morrison and rugby legend Gareth Edwards, who have both been knighted.

Hundreds of other people from across the country have also been honoured for their contributions to their local communities.
