WISBECH’S Hudson Leisure Centre is closed today (Friday) after raiders pulled the front doors out and emptied the cash tills.
The incident happened in the very early hours of this morning and the culprits were caught on CCTV leaving the scene in a 4x4 vehicle.
Police have said a stolen Land Rover was used along with ropes and chains to pull out the doors and it is not yet known if a safe was stolen in the same manner.
A crowbar and sledge hammer was left at the scene. It is thought the raiders got to the Harecroft Road centre through the fields at the back.
A spokesperson for the Fenland District Council-owned building confirmed the centre is closed today while police carry out their investigations before clearing up can start.
The break in has caused quite a lot of damage with glass strewn everywhere.
