The elderly woman murdered in her Wisbech home has been described as a “perfect neighbour with a heart of gold”.
Una Crown (86) was discovered in her Magazine Lane bungalow at 10.45am on Sunday and today’s news that she had been murdered came as a shock to neighbours and residents.
Although rumours had been circulating that there was more to Mrs Crown’s death, they were horrified to hear that someone had murdered the pensioner in such a “quiet neighbourhood”.
“We’re so shocked that something like this could happen,” one neighbour said. “She was so vulnerable. How could anyone do this?”
Mrs Crown lived alone and was described as “lonely” following the death of her husband a few years ago. The couple did not have any children but she had family locally.
She was helped out by neighbours who spoke to her regularly and made sure she was all right.
Police have launched a major investigation into her death and anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
