Members of Wisbech Yacht Club will be opening their doors during this year’s Rose Fair.
The club is running a recruitment drive on Saturday, July 4, and is inviting people to come down and learn more.
Visitors will be able to look around the boats from 3pm and learn more about the club, which has a common room in the Boathouse.
Currently there are between 15 to 20 members and the club is putting out an appeal for more people to join its ranks.
Commodore Andrew Smyk said people should not be put off from joining because they do not own a boat.
He said: “All people need is an interest in boating. There are a lot of people out there who find boating interesting but think it is an elite thing – it’s not.
“We have a good social scene and want to open the club up to people.
“We have people there who taught Ellen MacArthur.
“There is a wonderful marina and we would like to get more people interested in sailing and boating.”
Membership is free and the club holds open meetings twice a month and on the third Saturday.
Mr Smyk said: “We have trips down the Wash and to Wells, Amsterdam and France.”
Commercial vessels such as the Fenlander and the port’s tug will also be there during the open day.
