Wisbech band The Brink have been crowned joint winner in the Battle of the Bands competition in King’s Lynn.
The four-piece band fought their way up through the heats of the competition, which was run by Twisted Melon Promotions in association with KLFM, to reach Saturday’s final, held at the Corn Exchange.
The Brink achieved the same exact score as Whole Lotta Hair, a band from the King’s Lynn area, so for the first time in the contest’s history, they were both given the title of top band.
They will now get to perform in front of 12,000 people on the KLFM night of Festival Too on July 6. Other prizes include recording time at Grange Farm Studio, a photo shoot with Rebel Heart Photography and a promotion and gig package from Twisted Melon Productions.
The other bands who got through to the final were Couch, Flashback Photograph, From The Sticks and The Offshore Rivers.
Event organiser Triston Finnis, of Twisted Melon, said: “I’ve been absolutely amazed by the quality of the acts this year and also the wide range of genres from both original and cover artists. All six finalists had the quality to win the competition as well as a few that didn’t quite make it.”
Head judge Rose Newdick of KLFM added: “There now seems to be a special buzz within the West Norfolk music scene. The Brink and Whole Lotta Hair are worthy winners and I’m sure will do KLFM, Festival Too and themselves proud.”
