Firm celebrates new store

Wimblington-firm Fengrain has almost completed their £3.5m improvement programme to their 120,000 tonnes grain store and are planning a grand opening next month.

The investment has allowed Fengrain to manage a very difficult harvest for farmers and the whole supply chain, mainly due to the low quality of wheat produced. The first phase of the Jubilee store was completed just in time for the 2012 harvest and since then the facility has been busy processing members’ grain so that it is suitable for millers, maltsters and feed compounders.

The improvements which have been funded by the Company, its members and help from the East of England Development Agency, include a new 20,000 tonnes holding store, a new 350 tonnes per hour tipping point, a new drier and integration into the existing facilities.
