Family-owned car dealership Paragon Motor Company has bought the derelict former Victoria Cafe site in Wisbech with plans to transform it into modern premises.

Proposals for the Lynn Road site include a car showroom, customer handover area, a workshop plus reception, customer lounge and class 4 and 7 MOTs.

The extra display areas mean the dealership will be able to carry a wider range of used cars and commercial vehicles.

Planning permission is being sought with the support of local firm, Swann Edwards Architecture Ltd. If all goes well, work will start next year with an expected opening date in early 2015.

Gary Robinson, managing director of Paragon Motor Company said: “As a team we are thrilled to be able to announce our plans as this new site is a major investment for the company and a clear demonstration of our commitment to our customers and great confidence for the future prospects of Wisbech and the local economy.

“Our objective is to replace and expand on the facilities and products currently on offer at our Sutton Road operation, which was established in 2000, by offering customers greater selection in both sales and aftersales in a modern, accessible and customer friendly environment.”

He added the success of the business is testament to the hard work from the team and said the development would create some new jobs.
