March business CUB has won an award for community involvement.
The family-run business was recognised at the Red Ribbon Awards, hosted by Family Business Place, the only awards to recognise the achievements of family-run businesses from around the UK.
The prestigious awards were held last Friday, November 23, at the Pullman Hotel, in London. CUB came away as successful winners for the work they do within the community.
The awards look at family businesses who demonstrate commercial success while achieving excellence in its commitment to the community with schemes and initiatives, and this was the highlight for the CUB team as they won the award for their hard work and commitment.
CUB was praised for its work, with Family Business Place managing director Anita Brightley-Hodges listing several including providing training and support in schools, preparing CVs and interview skills and donating to charity for every new contract won.
The Red Ribbon Awards Ceremony also featured entertainment from family-run RockChoir and a charity auction which raised over £18,000 for Global Angels and Make-A-Wish Foundation.
CUB chairman Jaqui Fairfax said: “CUB were honoured to be shortlisted for two Red Ribbon Awards: Family Business of the Year and Community Involvement. We were absolutely thrilled when they announced CUB as the winners.”
Melinda Fairfax, head of marketing, added: “The awards night was spectacular with key speakers from Make a Wish. An event like this brings a whole community together and provides an invaluable experience not to be forgotten.
“This award recognises the hard work that all our staff put into charity and community work and shows once again that we certainly punch above our weight.”
