BRETTS is consolidating its warehousing on the Guyhirn site, building a new 80,000 square feet warehouse.
The new warehouse, which is being financed with support from Barclays, includes an office block, car parking and trailer park.
Barclays has supported Bretts Storage and Bretts Transport Limited with banking facilities to enable the company to consolidate on the one site.
The further development of this site will enable Bretts to relocate an existing storage facility in Peterborough to Guyhirn - providing the opportunity to achieve greater co-ordination with the transport arm of the business is currently based at Guyhirn.
Bretts Storage specialise in warehousing of food products, with all stock being palletised, wrapped and labelled before being stored.
Using an efficient Warehouse Management System, which provides full control of batch, quantity and date rotation, the company ensures that it focuses on retaining the flexibility required to meet the needs of its customers.
The transport company, which has a fleet of over 80 vehicles, was originally founded by Charles Brett in 1912 and has been passed down the generations.
Today, the company is run by managing director, Simon Brett. who said: “The scale of this development and the opportunities that it presents us with means that it is definitely one of the most significant events in our history.
“The foresight of my father to purchase additional land adjacent to our existing site some years ago, has undoubtedly paid dividends and enabled us to go ahead with this project.
“We firmly believe that this will help us to continue with our objectives of achieving controlled growth while always striving to improve the quality and value of our service.
