FENLAND Chamber of Commerce has again teamed with Fenland Council and the Fenland Partnership to organise the second Fenland Skills Summit, Enterprise in Education.
The free event, on March 13 at The Boathouse Business Centre in Wisbech, will see business leaders from the area and heads of Fenland secondary schools discussing how they can work together to help prepare young people for work.
Businesses will have the chance to contribute their ideas and explain the skills they require. The interactive seminar will include a journey of a young person in employment, useful business tips and an apprenticeship case study.
Following on from the successful 2011 Skills Summit, a new project will also be launched at the event. Fenland Enterprise in Education (FEE) will bring together businesses and schools to provide a range of activities to prepare youngsters for work.
The summit opens at 8.45am and finishes at 2pm after a question and answer session with experts. To attend call 01733 370809 to book.
March business woman Jaqui Fairfax, Chairman of Fenland Chamber of Commerce, who also co-ordinates the newly-created Wisbech Town Team, said:
“I am looking forward to seeing a lot of Fenland businesses at the event. This is a very exciting opportunity for local businesses to find answers to the questions they have about skills requirements and recruitment issues. They will be able to contribute their ideas and discuss their businesses needs to assist us in developing the area’s future workforce.”
